2009 – All Change.
Out with the old and in with the new – I’ve left behind a 22 year career and I’m starting my own business. The obvious choice is photography. It has always been a part of my life, a passion and I hope something I have a talent for.
Let’s see where it leads me.
2011 – Working on a new website.
Hello World – Wedding Photographer. My new year’s resolution for 2011 – create a wedding photography blog and add to it regularly throughout the year.
Please wish me luck and if start to waver give me a nudge. I intend to add a little here from time to time. I hope you find some of it interesting and maybe even useful.
I will talk about some of what we are up to, some of the things I have found interesting and may just a little chit chat too.
We will be mainly covering, Wedding photography, including pre-wedding shoots, bridal preparation and wedding days.
Portrait photography, portrait sittings and last but not least event photography and some of the events we attend.
Most of the work we do is in the North Somerset and Bristol area and I guess that makes sense as we are based in Portishead.
Despite this, we still often find work in the North West of the UK and have regular photography sessions in Lancashire, Ormskirk, Southport, Liverpool and the surrounding area.

6 October 2018 – Update.
Nearly 8 years after starting this blog and getting closer to 10 years photographing weddings. I’ve not been that consistent but I have managed to keep this blog going.
The website is in need of some updating. Some old posts don’t function that well. Some of that is a result of newer features in WordPress but mostly that in the beginning, I didn’t have a clue how to use it or set up posts.
It has been fun sharing my work but the weddings have been amazing, I love what I do. I do have the best job. I share one of the happiest days of a couples life with them.
I get to give them wedding photographs they love and I get paid for it too. My life has been transformed, I photograph most of my weddings during the summer.
The winter is catching up on editing, working on the website, bookkeeping, marketing and the general dull business stuff. but I can do that anywhere. This has meant I can spend extended time with my son and grandsons in California. I took 4 months to travelled around western Europe.
I have been to South America a few times. I have met wonderful people everywhere I have been. I am incredibly thankful for the way things have worked out.
I made some tough decisions in the past and although that meant I lost some things precious to me I gained some incredible things and experiences. And that’s what we are here for. Thank you, thank you, thank you…………
16 November 2019 – Update
Time for a change and maybe some cleaning up.
I’ve moved my hosting so I hope that will speed up the responsiveness of the sites. I’m still using the same theme I’ve been using for a while but I quite like it.
If you are interested it is a standard WordPress theme Twenty Seventeen.
The hosting provider I have gone with is Siteground. They have an excellent reputation for hosting WordPress based sites. Part of that might be that they run a referral program.
If you use my link you will get the current best-discounted rate and I get a month free. It’s not a big deal but if I get 12 people signing up through my link a year it covers package.
I’m not going to big them up just to save myself some money but I will keep you updated with an honest view of how I get on using them.

I am going to return to draft some of my old posts and weddings, That will reduce the content here for a while but it should streamline the site a little and force me to update old posts before making them live again.

2020 – Barcelona.
On the 30th of November 2019, I officially opened Photography by Bryan – Barcelona. Over the last few years, I have spent a lot of time in this beautiful city so it made sense to put a stake in the ground and formally offer my services there.
I am going back to Barcelona in two days to set up a few things and also have some time with my friends there. I am really looking forward to the new adventures this move will bring and I’ll keep you posted.

Happy New year all!!!
A new year and a new theme and also I’m using a theme builder – I took the plunge and invested in Elementor Pro. So far I like its features. It is pretty easy to use and learn and I can create pages and templates pretty much the way I want.
On the downside, it does add a bit of bloat to my site and it did slow the site down significantly but I am working around that and have my landing page back in the 90’s for google page speed.

I also deleted a few plugins like jetpack and Yoast, The unfortunate result of this was my galleries stopped working and I am having to update each wedding by hand.
It’s time-consuming but it has given me a push to update the posts I put into draft. I still have a long way to go but I needed to update them anyway and I have been enjoying revisiting my old weddings.
I don’t want to turn this page into a plugin and themes page so I’ll set up a page dedicated to my website building journey.
